Fashion Editorial Cont...

this is another picture i been working on, i didn't like the other shoot i did with this coat, nor did i like the photo's i took. I think i got a bit lazy, none the less this was probably the only photo that i was struck by, it actually came up quite nice, i wanted a close up and wish i had taken some more, but i'm quite happy with the result of this one.

Fashion Editorial

This is my first editorial fashion shoot i have done for both myself and assessment. It had to be taken either at college or on location indoors. This was taken at Alex's house using our smoke machine to add texture to the background. The elegant black dress is by Erin Boubli and the larger frilly black garment is by Brad Mclennan; make up by Melissa Lek and modelled by the gorgeous Andrea Santoso. This is my first of two fashion shoots i have to complete. My other shoot is scheduled for the next 2 weeks and will be shot at college and is a movement fashion shoot.

This shot was made using two lights. One to light up the smoke with a cardboard cut out of teardrop shapes to add light and shade and texture and the other light with a honeycomb and barndoors to light up the left side of Andrea.

I shot using a telephoto lens to flatten the image instead of adding perspective. It makes the shot look a lot more elegant and less flattering for the model. All in all i think this was a great shoot!

I Dior You

This photo was taken for my beauty assignment. This assignment is broken into two specific parts. One of which is a product shot of a perfume bottle followed by a matching picture of a model to go with the product (i have yet to complete this part of the assessment) and the third shot is a beauty shot of a model advertising a potential cosmetic. In this case Christian Dior.

The Model was Michaela Skovranova; make up done by Melissa Lek and photographed by me :)

I think this shot worked well, i think its elegant, it has an 80's feel with a 40's look. It works quite well and i feel i have done a good job executing this part of the assignment.

Volupte'

So today i had to my perfume product shot for assessment. I wasn't too up for it nor prepared for it but none the less i thogught id do a mock up and if it turns out well i will use it for assessment, if not then i'll reshoot another bottle with a different feeling and mood. This is volupte' by Oscar de la renta. It is an old woman's perfume, Old money very old. haha so the feeling was a bit old, afternoon maybe evening light. The shot was done using a white perspex base and background wall and 3 lights. The first light placed above the bottle giving a top light with a beauty dish. No flash only used the modelling light for it. The other 2 lights were placed next to each other both with honey combs, one of them with barndoors to cut out the light on the back wall to make it a bit darker. They both were shining through 2 glass bricks covered in orange gels to create warmth and mood. Pools of white, dark and orange light spilt through the bottle. Also behind the bottle is a piece of flat aluminium foil to reflect some light back into the bottle of perfume to add dimension. It was shot using a tripod. the only thing stak suggested was the foil trick but other than that the rest of the shoot was completely created with my own mucking around techniques which i'm pretty proud about.
